Lance Mackey, 2011 Iditarod - At the starting gate
Lance Mackey 2011 Iditarod news - Some times you're just in the right place at the right time. Here's a video of four-time Iditarod Champion Lance Mackey taking off from the starting gate at the 2011 Iditarod Restart in Willow, Alaska, on March 6, 2011:
The whole time I was shooting this video I kept thinking, "Hurry up, get on your sled, get on your sled", lol. When you're Lance Mackey and you've won the Iditarod four times already, I guess you can be pretty calm about the start.
All in all, a great day. If you ever have a chance to come to Alaska for the Iditarod, do come, it has been a great experience. Some people I met yesterday even fly to Nome, Alaska for the end of the race, which must be a tremendous way to cap off the Iditarod race. They tell me everyone is ready for a celebration at that time, win or lose.
