Helicopter brings in a plane

  • Talkeetna

While walking into town for lunch today a loud helicopter could be heard. I didn't think much of it at first, as helicopters sometimes land at the Talkeetna airport, no big deal. But when I saw that all the tourists were staring at it I knew there must be something different.

Then I saw something I haven't seen yet. The helicopter was towing a wheel-plane (as opposed to a float-plane) into the airport, which was indeed a very cool site. Since they're very similar in size I never imagined a helicopter towing a wheel-plane beneath it, but it can be done. Unfortunately I violated Rule #1 of living in Alaska (never leave home without the camera) so I don't have any pictures, but it was cool to watch.

I don't know if this was because of a problem (emergency landing) or whether it's just a new plane, but I hope to find out soon.
