Military vacation deals - Seward, Alaska military resort

  • Seward

Earlier today I ran into a couple of people from the United States military, and with my background in the DoD, we had some nice conversations. Beyond that, we talked a little bit about military vacations, and then talked about the wonderful military vacation facility in Seward, Alaska.

Seward is a wonderful Alaska vacation destination, and when I stumbled onto the military vacation facility there, I realized what a great vacation resort it can be for members of the military. Shoot, when I first saw it, and didn't know what it was, I immediately drove in that direction to see if I could stay there. Unfortunately civilians like myself can't stay there -- even if I did a fair amount of DoD work -- but if you've served in the U.S. military, you're probably eligible to stay there.

Here's one photo of the Seward Alaska military resort, courtesy of their website:

As you can see from the photo, it's a nice, clean, modern facility.

I won't write too much more about military vacations in Alaska at the moment, but I will close with these items: First, a link to the Seward Alaska military resort, and second, a link to all of my Seward, Alaska blog posts.

Oops, one last Alaska vacation tip: I don't really recommend staying in Seward for an entire week, unless of course you're looking for some serious R&R. Seward is a small fishing town, and if you're just interested in seeing the mountains and taking a boat ride, you can get all of that done in a day or two. However, if you'd like to take a sled dog ride, kayak out into the water, and hike around Exit Glacier, then okay, you might really enjoy a week in Seward.
